The continued progression of COVID-19 is unlike any challenge our world has seen before. As communities across the world continue to make decisions that are aimed at protecting their citizens, we are taking measures to act similarly in attempts to keep our members safe.
As a club, FCC fundraising events are on hold, however, we continue to hold board and general meetings (virtually) and do what we can to support those in need during this life-altering and deadly pandemic.
Civitans are practicing social distancing and keeping everyone’s safety at the forefront. We have had to change the way we support our neighbors and local community, but COVID-19 will not deter us from doing what we love to do, which is provide HELP. Lee Conrey, our Past President, put out a call to stampers and card makers and suggested that we make cards for the healthcare workers. It took a Village of crafters, but a project of love was created. Thousands of handmade cards were sent to 4 local Baptist Hospitals as well as Jars of Hope with words of encouragement, comfort and thanks. The cards and sentiments were tremendously appreciated and the hospital asked if we could do the same for the Home Healthcare Workers and their patients as well. Lee’s “little card” project turned into an “rolling avalanche” and cards have since been sent to Assisted Living Facilities, Rehabilitation Facilities, and more… Matter of fact, Birthday cards, Thinking of You, and Hello cards will be added to the mix as an on-going distribution to all of these same facilities on a continuing basis.
Many Civitans are Champions of Service that have grocery shopped for elderly neighbors, and cooked a little extra and taken it to their friends and loved ones in assisted living facilities. Those Civitans with sewing skills have spent countless hours making masks for family, friends, and healthcare workers.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and improve conditions in our community. Your generous donation will fund our mission and good works.
